About the website

New Website and ListServ: March 2006

Over the past few months we have been collecting the wishes and suggestions of neighbors and friends to help with the design of the next generation of electronic communications for the neighborhood. The goal of the board is to make information and communication easier and more inclusive for everyone who is or wishes to be involved with the neighborhood.

New features include:

New URL

The new home of the Forest Hills Neighborhood Association is fhnadurham.com. This URL makes it a bit easier to differentiate our Forest Hills neighborhood website from the dozen or so Forest Hills neighborhoods across the country.

New Content

FHNA is involved in so many projects and activities in the park, in the neighborhood, and throughout Durham, it can be difficult to keep up. We're dedicated to making it easier to find out what is going on and how you can help. Every committee and project will now have a page if not more. The content of the site will more closely resemble the newsletter and other print communications and will focus on current events and information that is pertinent to living in or moving to Forest Hills.

Let us know if you have a suggestion, comment, or correction.

New ListServ, Community Calendar and other sharing

There are so many great (and free) services for sharing ideas, information and media these days, we had a lot of options when we went shopping for a new platform. We have selected Yahoo Groups as our new home for interactive communication. The ListServ function has long been an active (and sometimes entertaining) part of life in Forest Hills. By moving to Yahoo Groups, we not only have an email distribution list, but also a community calendar, a place to post photos, a chat function and much more that should make communication easier and more fluid.

You must create a free Yahoo account to have full access to the FHNA group, but there are no other requirements. You can also just receive the list emails by sending an email to:

fhna_durham-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.

More information about the email list is available here.
